Hi! I'm Lara, and I am a geologist. Here's a little about me: I was raised in Dublin, Ireland, and enjoyed growing up with beautiful Irish scenery and later learning about the geological events that led to those spectacular landforms. I received my B.A. (mod) Geol from Trinity College Dublin, and became particularly interested in mineralogy and igneous petrology. I received my Ph.D. from the University of California Davis for my research on the viscosity of molten silicates at high pressures. While at UC Davis, my passion for sharing our knowledge of the Earth flared and I volunteered as the Department of Geology's Museum Scientist. I then became the Rice NW Museum of Rocks and Mineral's Curator.
I am now freelancing in Earth Science Education and Outreach. This website is designed to be fun and informational. Enjoy the activities, and check out the links. I will be adding more activities, and will include sneak peeks for my new books, so bookmark this page and visit again! Contact me if you have questions.
